HerbsNOW FAQ's Your Questions Answered

The HerbsNOW dryer utilizes both vertical and rotational air flow with a low pre-set temperature, in a controlled environment, to properly dry your herbs. It contains a timer with a default setting of 96 hours to maximize the ease of use and effectiveness of the unit.

Once the timer goes off, the unit will automatically shut down. Allowing you the flexibility to check your flowers for doneness, and or place them into air-tight storage, at your convenience.

The HerbsNOW dryer was created after years of research into the effective drying of medicinal herbs. The HerbsNOW dryer utilizes the confined environment of the enclosed dryer to ensure proper drying every time.

We recommend using the HerbsNOW dryer in an environment between 60 – 78 Fahrenheit with humidity levels between 40 – 60%.

Environments warmer than 78F will result in faster dry times. Growers will want to dial in the dry time using HerbsNOW based on their individual environment.

For areas with less than 40% humidity we recommend using the HerbsNOW Moisture Shot. 

HerbsNOW uses a low pre-set temperature to ensure a slow, controlled drying of your flowers and will not get hot enough to over dry it. 

In addition, HerbsNOW contains a digital timer. So the unit will automatically turn off when the set time is reached. You can rest assured that your herbs will not over dry in the HerbsNOW dryer.

Chlorophyll is a very unstable molecule. It breaks down rapidly. This is why plants make it daily. When stems are breaking and the drying process is complete chlorophyll has broken down to a level that does not impact flavor or taste. 

Yes, this is just the drying process no curing has happened yet. Drying and curing are two separate processes. 

Absolutely not. HerbsNOW has a deflector in it. Air is forced up the sides and across the trays. No air directly hits the flowers from the fan. 

Hay Smell is M.V.O. C.’s (Microbial, Volatile, Organic, Compounds) when moisture lingers on your buds this allows microbes to begin to digest your buds. As this happens the microbes release gases in the form of different aldehydes. These gases are the hay smell. Inside HerbsNOW the water activity(a_w) is slowly dropping every hour. This type of environment does not allow microbes to flourish. This means no hay smell. 

Absolutely not. In fact, when the drying process is complete your buds will have the peak flavor and aroma. HerbsNOW is like a lie detector test. It will leave behind whatever profile levels were on that strain you grew. Fire goes in fire comes out. Garbage goes in garbage comes out. HerbsNOW does not add or take away only leaves behind what was there.

A drying chamber offers a huge advantage by allowing everything in the drying chamber to have equal airflow and temperature 24/7 during the dry down process. When this happens, you achieve a much more consistent dry down. 

With the 5 included trays and a little practice, you can dry up to 9oz (dry weight). When expanded to 8 trays, and you configure trays so that you have 4 expanded trays, you can dry up to 1 pound (dry weight).

The 96hr default timer is an average time that over years of testing we developed. It includes different environments and seasonal changes. Depending on the grower’s environment, final dry time can be around or beyond the 96hrs. The drying process is not complete until stems can break. The 96hrs average time is to help growers get into the bullseye rings. Final dry time is dependent on the environment HerbsNOW is working in.
